Harder than I thought....

Thanks to all who have visited the site. The swag is still available for the first hero story - somebody, please - I'm NOT very patient!  In the meantime, I have decided to challenge myself to stay away from People.com and TMZ until the "Should be Famous" pages fill up.  It will be tough - i'm going out with the news that Heidi Klum and Seal are breaking up and while that makes me really sad, it's sadder to know that I have filled my brain with pop candy when I could be filling it with the pages and fantastic photos in the book I took off of Camden's bookshelf today.  Here's a plug for reading "The Invention of Hugo Cabret."  More popular literature, less popular culture.  Hmmmm, let's see how long this will last.

The start of "Should Be Famous"

After reading another People.com story and thinking "why is this person [still] famous," - Leanne Rimes -  I started to think about the every day heroes who don't receive star billing but should. I know CNN, KARE-11 and others have their annual accolades for big winners. And, I recognize this is no People.com but I am committed to collecting your stories and making sure at least my reading audience - hopefully more than two - will see and celebrate those who contribute (or have contributed) something to their community, to their families, to their country, to their school, to their workplace, what have you. Maybe you have a sister who selflessly volunteered to be your surrogate, maybe your cousin's boss's sister's daughter's best friend gave your father a kidney, maybe the 9 year old next door set up a lemonade stand with proceeds going to support the school music, phy ed, field trip program.  No story is too big, no story is too small but I challenge everyone to share someone who "Should Be Famous." Don't worry about finding the words to celebrate your story, I can help with that.  Don't know who should be famous but have an opinion on who shouldn't be?  Share that too.   Send stories, photos, YouTube links, video clips, what have you to whyaretheyfamous@gmail.com.
